@Helen wow that's amazing and thanks. Yeah I'm probably thinking of going the opposite way! I really hate pumping.
When I combi fed I would do breastmilk first then top up with formula in the same feed - I had a low weight baby though. Once she got older I changed to do formula or breast milk and it didn’t really impact time between feeds, you might find it levels out as he gets older.
@Francis thanks ❤️ i do breast milk from morning until later afternoon, then formula, maybe it's the formula filling him up in the evening and night! Hopefully it levels off. 🙏
They won't drink as much with Breast milk because it increases with calories and gets more concentrated as they get older where as formula doesn't. They're not like for like. Their body uses all of the breastmilk so it goes quickly through their system where as formula is heavier on their tummies so they feed less often.
@Zoe I don't blame you. I wanted to breast feed desperately and that didn't work so me being stuborn went we are doing this! I also found going out so much easier with breast milk then formula. My brain couldn't understand hot shot method where as breast milks good for 6 hours out the fridge. Or 24 hours with a cool bag and ice packs. My daughters nearly 1 and we go like 5 hours between a bottle now
@Helen wow that's impressive! Well done you mumma ❤️ yeah the taking out with BM is so much easier alongside the health benefits and cost!
@Helen oh and the poo's, BM poos almost smell sweet 🤣 formula poos not so much...
@Zoe the poops smell doesn't get better when they have food 🫣. When they're on one meal you know what's they've had and you miss the milk poop smell 😵💫
Formula takes longer to digest which is why he might go a bit longer and where the idea that formula fed babies sleep better comes from. On top of this, breast milk changes it's nutritional value to suit babies needs, whereas formula stays the same.
@Zoe I always thought BM poops smell like those microwave heat packs with the oats/wheat in them
I used to combi feed. Until minecwas 10 weeks then I went full breast milk. Breast milk goes through them quicker thus they feed sooner.
