Tips on getting 2 year old used to gym daycare.

I want to start working out again and my gym has a daycare. We were going last summer when my daughter was 16-18 months but life happens and I haven't been since then. I tried to take her the other day and she was inconsolable crying and I had to go down and get her. The daycare does allow me to go back and spend time in the room with her to help the transition but when she saw me try and leave again she freaked out. Anyone have any tips?

This might not be the best advice, but it's what we did. I planned out what days and times I wanted to be my gym time and committed to going, no excuses, for a few weeks. The first couple weeks all I did was check him in, do some stretching, and then pick him up because he wasn't having it. But slowly he started tolerating it more and more. Is this the only place she gets separated from you? Is the staff consistent?

@Haley that is good advice, yea my plan is to go MWF. The staff is pretty consistent I remember there was a woman there last summer that she really liked so hopefully she is still there. I guess it may just take time as this pretty much is the only time she is away from me.

Gym Daycares aren’t really that busy…is she there by herself? Ask the workers what time it usually gets busy w other kids aka other mums dropping their kids off, and try to go at that time when she has other kids to play with…usually I find when a class is on that’s when there’s 2-3 other toddlers there as well other times it’s pretty empty and there’s only 1 kid or none. Try to go at a busier time Xx
