Mine is good at telling me when he wants something and not using back-and-forth communication and when I ask what he did at the nursery he says “ I painted “ but can't really tell me in detail what else he did. We speak 2 languages at home

Im the same as you@Jodie My LG says many words and understands everything being said but doesn’t really use many sentences etc Instead of saying ‘ mummy can I have some water / a drink, she’ll just say water please etc xx

My son has a ton of words and his understanding is spot on. (We speak three languages at home). He has been putting short sentences together (4-6 words). In terms of back and forth communication we’re not really there yet. He can’t really elaborate.

My son has good vocabulary generally speaking but if I ask a question that requires some thinking - like what did you do at nursery - he wouldn’t answer correctly. Like he would maybe reply “yes”’which is not the answer to the question. He’s also only recently starting to understand and use the words when and why/because, but he’s not mastered them yet. We speak 3 languages at home. He mainly speaks 2.

If I lead the conversation I get a lot out of my 2.5yr old - he constantly asks questions and from day 1 I have always spoken to him like an adult, explaining everything. Sometimes probably too detailed!!! I think this has helped him But who knows!! They are what they are?!
