Really NICU? 😂 TW: oversupply

Little man was there for 48 days, I supplied about 10, 3oz bottles a day of milk everyday, right? Moreeee than enough. Even got called once to be like oh we have too much, you’re good if you don’t wanna keep bringing it here. So when he was being discharged, we asked about it just once or twice, nurses said oh it’ll be donated or disposed of! And we were like okay NBD we don’t get it back, I’m an over-supplier at this point whatever. Didn’t need it at home technically. I just got a phone call, 6weeks later, from the nicu milk depot. The nurse on the phone goes. Did you know we have 46bottles of your milk here? Is there a reason why you left it? I’m like uh. My husband and I both were told it would be donated or disposed of by the discharge nurses. Apparently that was wrong 😂 it was suppose to be sent home with us. 🥲 They’re going to save it for training purposes now 🤷🏼‍♀️😂 I had to share this weird moment of my morning.

That’s so weird they didn’t donate. You can always join a mom or breastfeeding FB group and donate that way. I did that because I was an oversupplied for the first 3-4 months

@Alexandria apparently there was a whole process I had to do if I wanted it donated when we left, but the nurses I guess were unaware. (Or didn’t want to deal with it, there were some of our nurses that weren’t my favorite. Wouldn’t bother trying to feed him, would just tube it, when he was only there for not eating by mouth “enough”) I already okayed the dispose/training use of at this point. I didn’t think about that, whoops 😔 I just knew I had to do a blood test and stuff to donate properly.
