Also in UK! Way too early to learn sucking reflex, your milk will likely come in earlier than with your first, probably 72hours after birth. It’s best to hand express right now as you’ll be producing colostrum then transitional milk which is still thick etc when milk comes in make sure you are pumping 3hourly, for 15-20 mins at a time. Make sure your flange size is correct so baby can have breast milk. Good luck!
It took 5 days for my milk to come in after I had my 34 weeker. I was so defeated but I pumped every three hours anyway. I'm still pumping 8 months pp. Keep at it even if you're not getting anything.
I’m amazed they even tested it yet. Wow. Way too early for that. I feel like that was just introducing unneeded failure. 😞 But everything Lucie said! Keep at it. Your body is still going through changes even if you were still breast feeding. Plus a lot of stress.
Did you mean to type 22? Because my daughter was 25 weeks and they definitely didn't/couldn't test that for months.
@Jessica no on a previous post she had her baby on April fools litterly at 22wks x
WOWZA I'm im the uk, and my son was born at 24wks, Sucking wasn't even introduced until the gestational age of 34wks as if in the womb , that's when baby would learn to suck their thmb etc, our son was on a tube feed untill 34wks. I was also told to collect my milk with a syringe for the first few days and not pump untill 3-4days post labour.
