Umbilical Cord not Fallen Off

Hi all, baby girl is 1 week and 5 days old. However her umbilical cord still hasn’t fallen off. We noticed it bleeding the other day so we took her to A&E to make sure it wasn’t infected and it wasn’t but they did say it isn’t healing much under the clamp, whereas the top is fully healed. They’ve told us to keep an eye on it but just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and had it fallen off?? I’ve been reading online that it not falling off quickly could point to immune system issues. So stressed!

Our little boys cord didn’t come off till nearly two weeks! It wasn’t bleeding like this but we called triage as we thought it was infected (had yellow looking puss) but it was just the stump. Get the midwife too look when they next visit- I’m sure it’ll be fine xx

My baby's came off at 12 days old. It wasn't bleeding though, just took a while to fall off. Maybe ask the midwife of health visitor to have a look for some reassurance x

My boy was like this, all normal midwives said to try rest the clip the other way to give both sides a chance to dry out xx

It can take a couple weeks so no need to stress yet x

I would leave his bottom half unbuttoned if possible and lift the clip other way to give bottom half chance to dry out as it looks very very wet still xx

My baby is 15 days old today and it’s still on. We bathed him last night and that helped to soften it.

My baby is 15 days old and still has the umbilical stump on...I think some babies just take a little longer then others!

I’d also ensure nappy isn’t covering it (if you aren’t doing so already) and fold the front bit down before fastening in place x

My midwife advised no baths until 5 days after it’s fallen off x
