Looking for experience 2nd baby after c section.

Hey mamas, i am pregnant with our second baby boy due in July. My June baby ended up being an emergency c section. Now with this one I have the choice to try VBAC or schedule a c section. I would like to know others experiences with both and maybe why you chose that option.

I had a planned C-section with my first and for my second I scheduled a C-section but if I went in to labor on my own I wanted to try for a vbac and I ended up having one successfully. I chose to do the vbac because healing from my C-section was hard and I thought it would be easier to heal while taking care of a toddler and newborn.

@Vanessa did your recovery end up being easier?

I attempted a vbac but it still lead to repeat c section sadly. But I really believe it was because I was induced (high blood pressure) if you can choose to do a vbac I would!! 2nd c section was worse for recovery

I found it safer to just do another csection also it depends why u had a csection in the 1st place. As per the recovery, 2nd time around was faster i guess cuz i had a toddler to care for and already knew what it feela like

I had a horrible vaginal delivery first baby and it took me a loooooong time to recover it absolutely knocked me sideways and I’m having to have surgery to put things right. My second baby was a planned C section and omg it was AMAZING!!!! I recovered super quickly it was an absolute breeze! The only problem was not being able to lift my super heavy toddler so needed help a bit longer! I wish I’d just had a c section first time around!!!!

I had emergency C-section with my first and initially really wanted a vbac. My doctor talked to me about the risks of a Vbac and a lot of my friends had long labors that ended up in a c section. One of my friends had a vbac that had bad tearing down there. All made me weary and unsure what to do. My local hospital wouldn’t induce me for a vbac after a c section so would have to go into Boston, which is an hour away for us. I ended up schedule a C-section on my due date and I was hoping the baby will come naturally before that. I started labor the night before my scheduled C-section. So when I went into the hospital, they said I started labor, but it could be several days waiting for the baby to come. I decided to have a schedule C-section. I scheduled C-section was a lot different than emergency section. It was calmer. I could walk into the OR. I don’t think the recovery was bad at all with the medication to manage the pain. The big thing is that the baby arrives healthy. Good luck

My first baby was vaginal, my second baby was C-section because he flipped breech when I was being induced. My three babies after that were all VBACs. I had high blood pressure with all of my pregnancies so I was induced with all of my babies (I developed severe preeclampsia and postpartum eclampsia with number four) but I had a VBAC friendly doctor and hospital that supported me throughout my decision and the deliveries. If You have been given the greenlight from a safety standpoint, I would try for a VBAC. I can’t imagine tending to toddlers while healing from a C-section (my first and second kiddos were 12 years apart).
