Update on us with a little needed advice!!!!
She’s potty trained, reading on her own, & doing math!!!! But the TEMPER TANTRUMS when she is learning something new is driving me crazy. She gets mad when she doesn’t know something and instead of asking she makes it up. I normally put up my fingers and tell her to blow the candles so she can breathe and calm down but she doesn’t want to do that anymore. Anyone else have cool tricks to deal with petty tantrums.
Oof, it is so hard to be three. My guy is very cautious, so he doesn't make stuff up, but he does get very frustrated when he can't do something. I usually let him try it his way a few times as long as it is safe, then when he melts down I sit with him and help him feel the frustration in his body until he starts to calm down. Sometimes it takes a while, and I remind him that I am here to help when he is ready to try again. At that point, he usually asks me how to do it. I try to remember that he is still a baby in so many ways and that it is his first time doing most of this stuff. Including regulating his emotions. I also try to focus on the process instead of the achievement. So when I am encouraging him, I might say, "I can tell that you have been practicing" instead of "you did it."
