You will get used to it I promise, it can feel strange at first but it’s the most natural thing in the world! I’m 9 month in with breastfeeding and I don’t even cover her anymore just whip it out🤣 I’ve never had any reactions really that I can recall. The feeding room in the high cross is good and they have one at fosse park as well!
You can always ask for a spare changing room if you need to sit down and feed just ask people are always happy to help us xx
John Lewis and the family toilets in the Highcross have breastfeeding rooms. Fosse park has family toilets with seating. I was totally self conscious at first. But it does wear off when you need to feed and no one can see anything as the baby’s head is in the way. That being said, it was nice to go have a seat in a family room if I was able. John Lewis had the more comfy chairs. I also went to a breastfeeding group where other mums are breastfeeding and there is infant feeding support too, that might help bring up your confidence. Mine was nhs led your midwife should have info on your local group.
John Lewis is awesome. M&S at fosse park do as well though there's a toilet in the room as well which is a little off putting in my opinion. If you get in touch with Leicester Mammas to get added to their WhatsApp groups that might help. They do weekly "breastfeeding cafes" at children's centres where you can just chat to other mums and there's always others breastfeeding there which can help. When it gets nicer they do park trips and other trips out (like Gorse Hill farm). I remember just after the pandemic sitting on the grass in Abbey Park feeding my now 5 year old surrounded by a big group of mums doing the same. If I can help put you in touch feel free to message me (I'm a peer supporter for them now)
I've used the John Lewis family room and thought it was great. They have rocking chairs and a water dispenser plus natural lighting which is a bonus!
You can get breast feeding covers that go around your neck and over baby which might help you?
John lewis has a breastfeeding area top floor. Downstairs highcross has a parent room. Fosse park has a feeding room too. However, u can breastfeed anywhere if you are comfortable - i just purchased a breastfeeding/nursing cover from amazon and nobody takes notice
