8 week old nap and bedtime routine

I need help! What should I be doing with my 8 week old for naps and bedtime routine and at night? He only naps on me during the day and whenever I put him down he’s never in a deep enough sleep to stay sleeping and it’s the same at night. I just want him to be able to sleep in his crib when I put him down into it but he just stirs and wakes up. I wait until his arm is floppy so he’s asleep enough and I lower him in still against me etc. I feel like I’ve tried all the advice. I have the room dark with white noise on and a little night light which is red (apparently good for promoting sleep). Will he ever sleep in his crib ? 😭 I’ve tried different types of sleep bag and also just a traditional blanket tucked in. Nothing seems to help. Any tips? I know it’s common but I just need some sleep 😭😭

I saw on tiktok a good way to put baby into their bed is to go feet first and slowly lower them down and then their head, put your hand on their stomach and then gently take it off, afternoon naps i put my boys mobile on and it had music playing with some lights (start) on the ceiling. It was a lot of trial and error and patience but it works perfectly now xx

Do whatever works for you in this moment because my god it changed ALL THE TIME 😂 everything you’ve said is totally normal. I wouldn’t work towards ideal sleep arrangements and routines until close to the 4 month mark, and even then no real “sleep training” just practicing sleeping in the cot. Dozesleepcoaching on IG is amazing - total wealth of practical advice and normalisation of infant sleep. Without bashing “gentle” or “sleep training”

I find the transfer to the cot works better if once my boy is asleep I move him from against my chest slowly to lying flat along my legs (I am sitting on the bed with my knees at a slightly raised angle) then after a bit I transfer him into the cot, keeping him flat rather than lifting him upright against me again. Something about being laid out flat on my body before going flat into the crib seems to help, if I go from him being upright to lowering him lying flat into the crib he wakes up. Good luck!

We have the rockit ZED, it vibrates to mimic a car journey. Has so many diff accelerations and things and also a red light with different brightness. Don’t get me wrong it doesn’t settle him instantly but I’ve found that if he starts stirring if I turn it on (it only stays on an hour I think) and pop his dummy back in then he settles and stays asleep
