When does it get better?

I had an emergency c-section in December and I'm trying so hard to be positive but I hate my section self. I think it looks horrific on me. It's not my body and I find it really repulsive. I was a size 18 before pregnancy but I've lost all the weight I gained in pregnancy plus more and it just keeps looking worse and worse. I know everyone says be patient but I can feel it when I run as it like a 90 degree ledge that sticks out 3 or 4 inches. When I lie on my front it feels like I'm lying on a rolled up towel or something. I can feel it and I'm aware of it in everything I wear no matter the cut of it. I just hate it and it makes me hate myself and I know it vains but I can't stop fixating on it when I'm aware of it no matter what I do because it is just so large. When did people start to feel okay with the shelf? Or notice it got better? I'm already massaging daily and working out and like I said I've lost all the baby weight plus more

It can take a long time for it to go back to normal and annoyingly needs constant working on. Keep doing the massages and work on your core lots as that will be the main factor into losing it but also please try to make peace that this could literally take years of dedication and nothing will fix it quickly. Even then I know some people sadly never return fully to how their bodies looked before but this is okay! Your body has done an amazing thing creating and bringing life into the world and with that come many changes. Keep working hard and being patient and hopefully you’ll start to see results but also be kind to yourself and try to love the body your baby has given you, every ‘flaw’ is a reminder of the blessing a baby brings

You’re not alone. Know that. I have the shelf and diastasis recti. I just felt comfortable enough to start pt 15 months pp

Have you tried scar massage? If you have Instagram look up Janette Yee I think her handle is askjanette. You can privately message her and she will respond to you. There is a lot you can do. I hope you check her out she helped me

You want to be doing self massage, use silicone strips and cupping. All will improve the appearance of your scar area
