CMPA or normal?

My baby is 1month old (gave birth 2nd March). He’s exclusively breastfed. He’s got these red spots all over his face, under his chin, chest, ears, on his back, neck, and his scalp. He started to get yellow crust on his ears and a little under his nose. His poo is normal for a breastfed baby and no other issues just his skin. I noticed it flares up when I change his clothes and also when he gets warm, but my partner said it also flares up when I breastfeed him. Should I stop eating dairy for 2 weeks and see if it improves? Also I noticed when he’s breastfeeding his stomach makes gurgling noises is this normal?

What laundry detergent are you using? If it flares up when you change his clothes he might be sensitive to the detergent or even certain fabric types.

Oh bless him, try and change washing stuff first, because that’s a quick fix. If no change then I’d look at changing your diet to see if that helps, but it does look similar to my son’s CMPA rash/eczema!

Girl I'd start both. Use tide or all free and clear AND do dairy free. It takes 2 weeks to see any change in baby symptoms anyway. So if they start clearing up immediately it's likely the laundry detergent, but if they don't theb you're already on your way to getting dairy out of your system

Like others have said maybe try and change the washing stuff and see how he goes but it also wouldn’t do any harm for you to cut dairy out your diet for a few weeks, I would start with one or the other first that way you can see what one is causing the issue

My son started like this after his first ever bath, we changed all washing products, stoped using soaps in his bath and he got diagnosed as eczema, he’s now 4 and still has it 😔

This is how my son’s eczema started, I would see a doctor. Definitely cut out dairy AND soy, check all ingredients as it is in more than you think. Stop using detergent, you can even just use white vinegar to be super safe. Keep baby dressed cool, in 100% cotton clothing. Don’t do too many layers. Do you have pets? That could be an allergy.

Hi! I heard that new born baby’s often have this problem, due to losing female hormone in their body, which they originally got from mama. My baby also got some on face and scalp around her 2 months. Doctor told me to just moisturize with cream and got better eventually. Didn’t do anything to change my diet or detergent.

@Anna I’m using Fairy Non bio liquid detergent. Will definitely have to switch to a generic brand of non bio detergent.

It does look very similar to the rash my son had as a newborn and he has CMPA. It used to flare up during/immediately after a feed x

@Frayere Did your son have any other symptoms of CMPA? Breastfed or formula fed?

@Jade Yes you’re right I’ll do both. Are there any safe oils I can use on his skin to moisture it ?

My baby’s eczema started just like this so I went for allergy testing and found out it was cows milk and egg..so I cut dairy and egg out of my diet totally and it’s been 10 months of me not having both. You should try changing your diet and see how it goes

@PeachyQueen jojoba oil or olive oil. Maybe even Shea butter. But there's specific lotions out there already for eczema

Our doctor today said to cut for 6 weeks then reintroduce to test, not sure 2 is long enough? Just in time for Easter though either way I’m sorry 🥲

@Madeleine well takes 2weeks to fully leave moms system and another 2 to be out of baby's. Ifk I guess 2 extra for gut healing?
