First midwife appointment

I have my first midwife appointment in a few weeks and I'm nervous it says I need to take urine sample and I think he takes blood what dose this appointment involves

Mainly going through your history, your family history and your partners family history, discuss where to give birth etc, any extra testing monitoring that may be required xxx

It’s a long appointment but basically as said above plus I think I got my blood pressure taken too, definitely did urine and bloods. It’s nothing scary! They will ask some silly questions like if you’re related which made me and my partner have a little laugh last time

@Charlie why do they take. Blood and need a urine sample?

@PhilippaRose bloods are a baseline to check your iron etc, and if you have an infections that put you at a higher risk xxx

@PhilippaRose they’ll take urine at every appointment, just to check that you don’t have an infection or protein in your urine and then I think bloods is to check your blood type and things like that
