Drinking and Breastfeeding

Hello girls, every Friday night I have a glass of wine (about 250mls). I wait 2 hours before feeding my baby but I’m getting nervous. Will this impact my baby?

My guess would be no, sometimes wonder if the advice is also partly incase mums are co sleeping and would be more likely to deeper sleep if you’ve had a drink. As far as I’m aware one drink with a few hours break is absolutely fine but I’m not medical so thats just doctor instagram/ google 😅😑

Multiple midwives told me that I could have a glass with no problem at all.

Shouldn't do, some babies can get a bit unsettled but that can be due to ingredients not the alcohol. Might trigger reflux in babies more prone etc.

I know people who had a glass when pregnant, baby will be fine. I have one drink and breast feed at weekends and, I don’t time it and my babies are fine

I often have a small glass with dinner, a run and coke here and there, I've noticed zero effect. I would probably have 2/3 max though x

The main issue with drinking is coalescing safety and carrying baby if you’re intoxicated. You’d have to be roaring dunk for your breast milk to be affected by the wine I believe.

No, you and baby will be fine! I have definitely sat and drank a small glass of wine whilst feeding my baby

You’re fine, I have a few drinks on a weekend (maybe 3 max) spaced out over a few hours. If I’m planning on more than that I just feed her expressed milk. You’d have to be falling over the place drunk for breastmilk to be negatively affected, at that point it’s too dangerous to take care of baby which is the bigger concern obviously.
