Hair cut

Hi moms Has anyone cut their baby’s curly hair ? So my mother-in-law advised to cut my son’s hair at 1year old so it can grow better but I’m worried he’d lose his curls and go Afro . My son is half black half east European . How was your baby’s curls after their first haircut? Also can you please tell Me what hair type he has ? 3C?

Beautiful 😍. My son hair was like this too when he was a new born . Is your baby the same mix? @Makaila

Ever since she was about 10 months I used a mixture of Whole Cloves Rosemary Rose petals Mint leaves Fenugreek seeds Made into a spray and it has grown her hair!! I took a month to learn to braid and start putting her hair in braids recently to to protect it from getting matted because her hair type mattes so fast especially when wet and I found if I keep it in braids it avoids that and I can avoid further breakage but can’t braid to tight or keep them in to long.

Her hair is still growing and it came in quiet uneven kindve like how your babies hair looks but eventually overtime their hair starts to get longer and thicker and even out a bit ♥️♥️♥️ so just in case you don’t feel comfortable cutting it you could try other ways ♥️♥️💪🏾💪🏾

@IJEOMA her dad is white with like barely wavy hair but his family has curls. And I’m Jamaican/native (black)

@Makaila this is so helpful! Thank you so much ! My son’s hair is so similar to your girls hair at 1 so I’m happy to see what it might look like from the recent photo of your daughter. I will try to make the spray 😊😊😊❤️

@Makaila Thankyou so much!!!!!

My son is half black / eastern EU aswell and he had first hair cut age 2 and still has his beautiful curls. It was half way down his back and was being mistaken for a girl.😂

@Makaila gorgeous 😍😍

Cutting hair wont make it grow better or change the curls. The texture and curl pattern are determined by the shape of the follicle under the scalp. Cutting doesnt change that. However once u cut the baby hair off and more mature hair grows in it can be different from what was before. The hair would change to this regardless of if u cut it or not. The cut just speeds up the process. Those that "lose" curl were never genetically meant to have curly hair. Those whose hair goes more towards type 4 were always going to have type 4 as they got older. Ive had all 4 of my kods hair cut and shaved and its always come back the same.

I shaved my baby’s hair due to religious reasons first time then did it again because it was growing really patchy for months so did another shave. I wouldn’t say it helped as baby hair grows slowly I have been using black castor oil and blue magic to just hydrate and it is supposedly supposed to increase growth but she still has a small amount of hair. I’m just letting the hair do what it needs and just adding oils to moisture now.

@Makaila please do you boil the ingredients or just add water to make the spray??

@Esther you can boil the ingredients or you can put them in a jar and leave them for a month or longer to sit. For a quick spray (when I run out of both) I boil but I also make another batch that I let sit.

@Makaila oh I see. Thank you so much.

@Esther it is no problem!!!!

Nothing wrong with an Afro, if his hair is not growing then cutting it is the option
