Hi hun, mine was the same! They’re just getting used to the latch. I know it’s not helpful right now but give him a few more days and he’ll get used to it and stop biting x

Oh no why would anyone even suggest such a thing on such a small baby? Best thing to do is not react as hard as it is, it will pass. My 7 month old is the exact same with biting but hasn’t cut a tooth yet, I imagine it won’t be long until she has one through x

@Emma thank you .. I feel like I scare him when I jump as he bites

@Hayleigh mine has 2 bottom teeth and enjoying biting everything

I was exactly the same but you’ve got this!

My doula a recommended no verbal reaction, but unlatch directly and close the bra: keep nursing a little later. Works well for us

Was the same for us, i reacted by screaming in pain and shock once and he then didnt want to eat for 2 days!! So best advice is not to scream haha and try to unlatch the best way possible and it passes in a week maximum!!

Thank you all

I mean, no, don’t pinch your baby! Good lord. Where do people get this stuff from? Just unlatch him straight away. Try not to react - they just find it funny and then it becomes a game. Just teach him that biting = food goes away.

@Sharon I keep a straight face but he smiles he waits for me to laugh or smile at him

I made the mistake of shouting OW! When my little one bit me. Now he thinks it’s funny 🤦‍♀️ but everytime he bites I say “we don’t bite mummy” and I put him down either on the floor or his bouncer. Trying to teach him that if he bites he’s not going to get milk. If a baby is actively nursing they’re unable to bite because of the tongue placement so when they do bite they aren’t drinking anymore. This has worked in reducing the amount of times he bites me. He doesn’t have teeth yet (7 months old) so I’m hoping by the time he does he would’ve stopped. Also when they bite push them into your breast so they can’t breathe, sounds harsh I know but they will instinctively open their mouths. This does less damage than if you were to pull away (my health visitor told me this trick) x

@Leah okay I’ll try that thank you

If you can't get baby off (they hold the bite instead of letting go) you need to gently push them in so they let go (never had to do myself but know lots of people who have). If they bite then stop just take them straight off. I made a point of putting my boobs away too even if this upset her and saying "we don't bite mummy". I always got it straight back out again and fed her but just the fact of her being taken off then them going ment I only had to do it a few times before she made the link and stopped. Just realised I'm pretty much repeating the above advice so definitely agree lol.

@Liyan Yes! Mine too. The little bastard!

Not fun at all but it's best to not react at all. Mine got his first 2 bottom teeth at 4 months and thank fully only bit a couple of times when something scared him if he was starting to dose off. Now he's teething with 6 teeth coming and him bit me last week with such force he made me bleed! I did my best to not react abd as already noted from someone else, unlatched him and temporary closed the milk bar. He bit again a couple days later and I did the same. That was it for me 🤷‍♀️

@Lucy he keeps biting still, once he bites I put him down and say no biting but my husband thinks it’s funny.. I really want my son to bit him is that wrong

@Liyan oh dear! Unfortunately, if your husband laughs, your son will keep doing it as he will also find it funny. I also wish your son could bit his nipples!
