Baby hates car seat

How old is your baby? My son hated the car seat with the inner part inside as he was squished and he didn’t like it , but now he is bigger and we took that inner part out he loves it now . He’s 4 months now xx

My little girl is the same, she screams so much she has to stop to catch her breath. She does settle if someone is in the back with her and puts her dummy in just as she gets grumbly, she spits it out 100 times but eventually after keep putting it back in she does settle. I always make sure I feed before we go anywhere and also I try to go places just after she has had a nap (hard if it's appointments or classes) as she is happiest then. It is so hard but I hope it will pass and I hope you find a solution x

Having the exact same issue with our LG- I drove half an hour home from meeting friends today with her screaming the whole way! I've found timing with naps seems to work well because then she will sleep, even if she cries for the first 5-10 mins. But I find if she's awake she just will not settle and will scream. It makes no difference if someone's in the back, there's a mirror and some sensory things to look at on the back of the seat, also some toys hanging down but she's just not bothered! We've taken the newborn insert out and she looks much more comfortable but it's made no difference. Hoping it's just one of those things she'll grow out of because we're the same with UK holidays and I don't see how it's going to be feasible at the mo 😅 xx

My lg hates the car too. She also won’t sleep at all in the car. Ive found incy wincy spider calms her and stops her crying and she will normally go about 5-10 mins without crying if thats on repeat (its a 30 second somg on spotify 😂) i feel like ive lost my mind

Have you tried the toys the hang and a mirror ?

@Ellie wood hes 3 months. We have taken the newborn insert out already but i will have a look if theres any other adjustments we can make! x

@Amanda yep we’ve got all of that 😩 will try to see if theres any better toys to try

So glad im not the only one suffering, thanks guys 😩🤣 we’re going to keep trying lots of short trips and going to try using the carseat as his pram for a while and see if that gets him used to it

I've just started having to sit in the back to put dummy in. She was fine until recently.

I’m on the same boat and did the same post couple of days ago! My little one is 3m and he goes into hysterics when in the pram or car seat. We tried everything there is I think, but I realised the older he gets the more time he gives us in there so I am hoping it will just go away one day 😭 🫶🏼

Yes ma’am, I put baby boy (16wks) in his car seat for the 3rd time ever and he wasn’t a fan, I’m super anxious about letting him be in it for longer than the recommended 30 mins to 2hrs max, so typically he’s just in his pram. So what I’ve done is try to put him in the car seat at home & stay with him, take it on short trips etc. having the car seat on the floor with him in it and rocking it back and forth has helped settle/comfort him while getting him use to the stop and start of journeys I hope this helps 🩵
