I’m very much the same, planned to breastfeed for a year. I don’t know how we’re going to stop though because LG doesn’t eat that well and refuses a bottle/sippy cup/straw, won’t drink water let alone milk.
I have been BF only night wake ups and first thing in the morning for a month and it’s not impacted my supply at that time 😊. Think I’m planning to do this until she’s 15-18months

With my first I started offering solids for lunch and dinner straight after nap without a feed first then offered milk after. This cut encouraged his to eat more food and he gradually got full enough that he didn't want to feed after either. Morning and bedtime feeds I kept until 12 months. Morning I just didn't offer and went straight to breakfast and bed I started feeding downstairs so out of the bedtime environment and then replaced with cows milk in a straw cup. I've just started doing the same thing with my second, cut out the pre dinner feed 2 weeks ago and today started to cut out the pre lunch one. If you want to breastfeed until 12 months there is no need to offer or replace feeds with formula at this age x
You definitely don’t need to introduce formula. You can start weaning without it, once you decide to. I’d follow Emma Pickett, she has a podcast with episodes about weaning too https://www.instagram.com/p/Cs4HD0ftLpf/?igsh=MWZsYmMweHFkNzNsMg==
I’ve been spacing out daytime feeds slowly and dropped night feeds a month ago. My breasts are struggling to adjust and I’m really full most of the time. Started getting blocked ducts frequently again. Don’t know if I could cut a pre dinner or morning feed…. I think I would explode. I know they say your boobs adjust, very much still waiting for that!
@Katie try hand expressing a bit off just for comfort! My baby had only started sleeping through the night in the last 2 weeks and my boobs are waking me up at 5am everyday rock hard and leaking😅🤦
I do if I have to. I’m exactly the same, I Just thought my boobs would have adjusted by now, it’s been nearly 6 weeks 😫
I think you’ll be fine to just bf for night wakes and then give bottles in the day if you’re both happy with that - we’ve been doing that for the last couple of months and my supply adjusted. Just do it gradually 😘 in terms of night weaning, you might find she does it naturally before 18 months. My first stopped waking for feeds at 10 months but my littlest is still having a feed in the night at the same age. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong time in terms of now or 12 months, is baby already used to a bottle? I guess if you wait until 12 months you’ll save on the cost of formula 🙈 but if you do it sooner she’ll have more chance of getting used to a bottle if that’s a factor xx
