Does anyone else lo rubs your breast? My son does and every time I tell him to stop he thinks it’s funny. I want to be clear he was breast fed and he did it during feeding now with his bottle and sippy cup

Only during bed time though but yet he lays on my chest he will rub my breast. Is this normal How do you get them to stop if is?

Yeah, it’s totally normal. It’s a comfort to him. It’s something he remembers that comforted him, it was his routine to lay on your chest in your breast and sleep and eat. It sounds like something he’s remembering when tired as it’s his old soother. That’s just his mummy to him, he doesn’t understand that it might be awkward if in public or anything.

Thank you @Sarah that’s exactly where it’s coming from we went to the outlet he got sleepy and he started to do it and I was like wait I don’t want some ppl harassing or making judgement but yes it’s his norm he was very overwhelmed today I assumed and soon as we stopped and parked the stroller to let him relax he did that. I wonder how long does that go on. He has a teddy bear now but I feel maybe just the shopping store for over 2 hrs made him jump to his I want mommy mode.

How old is he?

@Sarah 18 months

Can you baby wear him in a carrier? Then if he’s sleepy in public he can just sleep on your chest and be comforted xx

I was literally having a conversation with my other half about this and opened my phone to see this post! It's 100% normal, I breastfed too! He looked down my top last night and pointed to them and said "gone" because he couldn't see my nipple 😄 Then this morning he pointing at them as body parts and was twlling me the names etc, I tell him that they're for the new baby and he's never gone to drink from them etc, he's just observing that it's different to him.

@Sarah he is still able to fit in a carrier and I honestly have one for his weight now I never opened because he loves his stroller but I definitely will try that tomorrow for our jazz outing. That’s a good idea thank you

Yes mine does this too and is 18 months, self soothing type of thing.

@Holly that is so funny. Yes they are so smart right like he was just rubbing like come on let this milk flow I personally was laughing because that’s what went on in my head because he has a bottle and cup he drinks from but in my mind he wanted more milk than the bottle was giving him and was trying to speed up the process. 😂. I also tell my LO “ you can’t have anymore from mommy because we have to save it for when you have a little sister or brother and that’s when he starts to laugh.

Yes my 5 yr old will still do it occasionally and she hasnt breastfed since she was a bit over 2. Its their main comfort for the most imprinted time of their lives and in most traditional cultures women breast fed up to 7yrs old and it was normal and there are places that this still happens. The only thing is if it makes you feel uncomfortable or is a sensory issuefor you then you just have to draw a compassionate but firm boundary on that and offer an alternative for soothing him. He os seeking comfort thats all.

My boy is 20 months and does this quite a lot, he wasn’t even breastfed for a long time due to some issues we faced but I believe this is just very natural and a comfort thing 🥰

My 3 yr old does it sometimes, I don’t mind really. She was breastfed too.
