His not walking independently yet still falls within normal. We had/have some hypermobility and low muscle tone issues. We've also had xrays, worked with a physio and osteo. It was recommended for us to avoid shoes as much as possible until after they're walking independently with confidence. Shoes are quite heavy for little ones, especially since he doesn't yet have all the muscles needed to walk. My guess is that is why he was dragging his foot. I would avoid wearing shoes where possible, but obviously, do whatever feels best for you and your family!
Thank you both for the replies! Yes I avoid shoes as much as possible right now as he isn’t walking but we were outside yesterday and it was wet, still raining, and a bit chilly and I was worried his feet would get cold with just socks on lol
sounds like you’re doing everything right and checking your bases for him,, my son crawled with his right leg propped like a kick stand and his right leg is a little squishy lol,, it might be the shoes since they are heavier than bare feet just keep practicing i’m sure he’ll be just perfect at walking in no time
It was most likely the shoes we got my daughter a random pair cause we couldn’t find the ones I wanted and they didn’t help her walking at all she couldn’t even get up on her feet like she normally did I finally found the shoes I had been looking for and she does amazing walking in them and standing up barefoot is best when they are learning but if you do need shoes I would recommend looking into the different type of shoes that are best for starting walkers we use stride rite shoes ☺️
My 4th child did this.. took him to the chiropractor and he straightened out and started walking (and running 😑) basically the next day!
It's probably normal, especially if he doesn't do it without shoes. It takes them a minute to get used to shoes
