I am so upset and need to get it out of my chest

I had an appointment for 2nd vaccination with my baby girl that is 4 months and when I got called in I asked the nurse about her eye as is constantly discharging since she was born. She look at me without checking her and told me she had conjunctivitis. I got i little irritated as I been to several appointments there about her eye and every time I got the same answer “ is nothing concerning and very common for newborns, keep cleaning it with water”. I told the nurse why only now I’m being told this after 4 months and she proceeded to tell me to go the pharmacy and ask for treatment at the counter without prescription and telling me that I should call gp for such a thing as newborns commonly get a lot of this stuff until are 1 year old and when she grew her daughter she only use water and that people are calling gp for a lot of silly problems such as “nettle stinging “. Sorry for my long post it might not make a lot of sense due to being still annoyed with her response. Was I in the wrong? Should I’ve not insisted on my gp to check baby eye?

Sounds like she was just an awful nurse, maybe pop a complaint in!? Any sensible mum would take their babies to the doctors for conjunctivitis, NHS website even tells you too. 9/10 it's probably just sticky eye but always best to get checked so you did the right thing

Awful nurse! I would make a complaint! We mums go through so much fear and anxiety in those first months and all we need is some compassion kindness and understanding. On my third gp visit when my boy was a newborn my gp said “you come a lot! I said yes, I am a first time mum and if I am concerned with something it’s my duty to check with a health professional?? That shut her up.

I would make a complaint! You are not in the wrong. Sorry but that’s their job to see a baby and treat you with respect and kindness. Yes it maybe something of nothing but their job is to check and reassure you, give you proper advice and she hasn’t done that.

Sorry but i am still in same situation since my baby was worn
