Pumping is absolutely not a reflection of your actual supply. A baby is much more efficient than a pump. It's also normal to feel like your breasts aren't full during the day when she's latching often and they feel fuller in the morning if she's slept for longer. As long as she's putting on weight I wouldn't worry about supply, what you're saying is absolutely normal! :) x
Nip in and get them weighted if you’re worried x
- Babies can get much more than the pump! - Breasts usually make less volumes in the afternoons and more overnight / in the morning (although everyone is different), this is often why babies will cluster feed in the afternoon / early evening Is there a reason you’re worried about your supply? If she’s getting enough wet nappies and gaining weight, you likely have more than enough milk. Babies feed A LOT, much more than most people expect (including me and I’m a lactation consultant lol 🤣🤣) and it varies based on what your baby needs each day. If you’re worried, please get help from an IBCLC! You’re doing a great job mama x
60ml is pretty good pumping on top of nursing Don’t let the influencer fool you poring bottles and jugs filling 5-20 bags of milk at a time They have massive over supply which is a problem and can create health issues or they are saving up a few days of milk claiming it was one pump or one day When I exclusively pumped I got about 300 ml every 4 hours now I nurse every 2 hours and pump every 6 as I have mild over supply from exclusively pumping and have to do some collections for when I work and I get less than 90ml Nursing and pumping drop visible output compared to just pumping because the rest of it is in the baby If the weight is up and there pee and poo try not to stress
The lactation consultants have told me that baby is much more effective at getting milk out than a breast pump. As long as she has enough wet and dirty diapers and is gaining enough weight then she's having enough. Do you also breastfeed during the night? Do you bf as well as pump? I find myself doubting my supply as well - do you have any breastfeeding clinics you can go to?
