Painful, numb, tingling hands after birth

I had my little girl nearly 7 weeks ago via C Section, my scar has healed really well and i had a good recovery, however my hands are very numb, painful and tingling, it is preventing my from driving, i have reduced strength in my hands and i struggle to do things such as putting the pram up and doing up poppers on sleepsuits. I have been to my GP twice about it and they said it's normal and there's nothing that can be done. Has anyone else experienced this? If so do you have any tips on how to relieve this please? Many thanks

carpal tunnel syndrome - could this be it? Have you ever suffered from this? X

Yes insist on MRI of your neck asap. Insist. It could be radiculopathy and it DOES need treatment. They're going to ask you if you tried anything to correct it and if not they'll add you to a waiting list for physio before you get an MRI potentially. Tell them you're worried abojt the speed this has come on, if this has only happened since birth and is both sides. It would be pretty weird if carpel tunnel caused that level of neuropathy so quickly on both sides. It's kind of weird that radiculopathy would too, but if you have a herniated disc that has affected both sides it could.

It happened to me too, esp bad when you woke up from nap or sleep. However, it did go away when my boy turns 4 months ish.

Carpal tunnel shouldn’t affect all your fingers, pinky should be spared? Did you have an elective section or an emergency… gas and air can deplete you b12 leading to neuropathy if you used this for a prolonged period during your labour. Would expect the GP to do some neuropathy bloods to check some other common causes. And if doesn’t examine like carpal tunnel then considering radiculopathy. Pregnancy is a risk factor.
