Non-verbal mamas

Hello mums, if you have a non-verbal 2 year old. Do you have any tips on how you know that they are hungry or hot? Day to day stuff like that. I tend to my LO as needed, but sometimes I am wondering if he is still hungry or if he is too hot/cold. He has needs so doesn’t have other ways to communicate and is basically like a baby ❤️ tips appreciated! Thank you.

Have you tried flash cards or sign language. My son turned 2 in feb and is only just starting to talk. I sign with him and now he says the words I sign. I also exaggerate words and make them fun like hot I say hot hot hot and blow on food and get him to do it to. Now if he’s hot outside he say hot hot hot xx

When we are home, my son drags me to the fridge when he's hungry (which is most of the time 😂) . But he struggles to communicate about anything else. I'm really starting to notice the frustration. I've been trying sign language, but it's not going great x

I showed mine where all the snacks and fridge was and used sign language for food and hungry and he got that x

Thanks for getting back to me everyone! Great ideas. I’ll try some :) signing wasn’t working as he is developmentally delayed but I’ll keep trying so he will get it one day!
