Absolutely not. I didn’t even give my baby my financé’s surname nevermind Jr 😆
If it matters that much to you to not name him a JR then don’t. But if it doesn’t matter to you but it matters a lot to him, just let him have it. I gave my son his dad’s last name and we aren’t together. It’s a whole legacy thing for him and it didn’t matter to me as much as it mattered to him.
All the Jrs I know hate being Jrs. My spouse is a Jr and it occasionally causes hiccups with paperwork and stuff because of the Sr/Jr thing. He feels very strongly that boys deserve their own names, not just tributes to their father's egos
I think it’s much better to give a child their own name instead of naming them after the parents, and obvs if you’re not crazy about it then don’t do it lol it’s your baby too. But I think a good compromise would be to take your bd’s first name and make it your sons middle name
Bd wanted same thing I said fawk no and spontaneously on my own decider to split bd first name and make it into my sons middle name but my son didn’t get his last name either. Xander is my son’s middle name. (Alexander) I knew we wasn’t gon stay together but I had a spare moment of respect in the hospital room all alone. It was what I entirely wanted. So just listen to your intuition and how you feel.
@Christine your really pretty btw ... I let my ex give our son his middle name, I hate it with a passion... it makes him appear to be a different ethnicity also I'm 99.9% sure it was his secret lovers name 🤢🤢 i want to change it.. he won't give consent... yay. Do what you want ! X
@Bea♡ thank you love and I’m sorry to hear that!!
This is such a tricky one and if I find out I’m having a boy, I’d be in a similar situation. Me and my ex broke up and his family tradition would mean he’d have my ex’s first name - and last if I give baby his surname! Everyone says if it’s a boy call him something I have chosen, I 100% get where they are coming from but it doesn’t make it an easy decision. Do what feels right for you. Hoping things will settle as my due date is September xx
