Weaning

Hi girls, Hoping for some advice in regards to weaning. My LO is now 6 months old so we have started our weaning journey. The only problem is I am absolutely terrified of BLW - i know how important it is for them developing the muscles in their little mouths but I just can’t get past the fear of her choking. I am with my little girl by myself the majority of the time due to my partner being a shift worker. So far I have only introduced her to purred food like avocado, carrots and broccoli. Does anyone have any tips on how to transition into the BLW? Thank you!

I gave my little one steak today. He just sucked the juices out and had a little chew. Maybe start with foods like this where they don’t actually swallow? (Not sure how many foods there actually are like 🤣)

Use solid starts app to prepare food in an age appropriate way and maybe do a baby first aid course for peace of mind. I did mostly purees but blw at dinner with my first and will again this time.

it might be controversial but you don’t have to do blw if you don’t want to! or you can do purées for a couple of months and then switch to blw.

My little boy is a week off 6 months, I started weaning him at 5 months because he’s a hungry boy 😂 He’s tried, a variety of baby crisps to start with that just melt in his mouth as well as purées , but recently he’s been having fish fingers, yoghurts, toast, porridge, weetabix and all kinds of fruit&veg

@Caitlan wow! Sounds like you’re smashing it. My lg is showing absolutely no interest tbh 😫

@Sophie thank you for saying this! I find the pressure of doing what everyone else is doing overwhelming sometimes. If I’m completely honest my LG isn’t interested at all in food she’s taking maybe a tablespoon at a time before gagging 😫

@Tanya downloaded this app yesterday. I’m going to have a proper look through it today 😊

Thank you, sometimes my little boy isn’t interested he will just play with the food, and see how much he can on the dog 😂😂 but he has fun playing with the different textures Remember food is fun until 1
