I can’t offer any advice unfortunately as currently pregnant with my first. I’ll have to return to work full time as will need the money. I’m already dreading it and my maternity leave hasn’t even started! One of my friends is due to return to work in the next two months and she’s also dreading it and doesn’t want to go to work. You’re definitely not alone! Your little girl is adorable! And that’s a lush photo. Hopefully your GP can offer some support. Are there any other mums at work who may know what you’re going through? Is your partner involved? Just wondering if he was if it would help if he could look after your little one when you were at work or vice versa? Harder if you both do 9-5 though! Hope you feel better soon! Xx
I’m going back to work in a couple of weeks - also doing 5 days in 4 with one day in the office. I don’t actually know how I’m going to feed my baby and get ready for work and do a 45 min commute across town every Weds in time for an 8am start and quite frankly I think I might have bitten off more than I can chew. My husband is doing some shared parental leave, so my little boy will be with him until he starts nursery in August. Husband is great with him but I’m worried about how it’s gonna go. I feel like I’m so in tune with my baby now and that my husband still has a lot to learn. Plus he doesn’t have any tits! 😖
@Helen I’m so glad I’m not alone! It’s the worst feeling, I feel like I’m failing at work but also failing as a mum and i’m finding it so so hard to do both! Other mums at work either have school age children or work part time which unfortunately I can’t do at the moment as we are looking to move in the next few months so I need to be full time for mortgage purposes. My partner is involved and very supportive but he started in a new job in January with limited flexibility and hasn’t been able to take any time off up until now while he’s been in training so it’s been all on me really. I do try and start work at 6am and finish at 3.30pm so I can get some housework done before I pick my little girl up from nursery as otherwise we both would finish at 5.30 & she wouldn’t get picked up until almost 6 and we’d have barely any time with her before bed😭 thank you for your comment💖
@Sharon it’s so difficult isn’t it! I try and logon at home for 6am and get an hours work done before little one even wakes up! Then I will set everything up the night before so I can just throw her clothes on and drop her off in the mornings. I use my lunch break to commute on those days and drop her off and then it means I’ve usually done about 1.5hours of my day before I even get to the office! It’s hard but it means I can finish a bit earlier. I’m sure your husband will be great with him and I’m sure they’ll be in tune together in no time. It’s such a switch up for everyone though and I wish it didn’t have to be like this!x
@Sarah Thank you for your comment, hopefully it will get easier!x
Start up a little business that what imd doing x
@Maeli I would love to do that but don’t have much in the way of funds to start anything and it would have to be successful enough to cover my full time salary or close to it which would be hard😩x
@Ellie I just started doing a little business just doing digital pictures when kids were born n stuff but reasonable prices instead or charging over the odds xx
@Maeli I’ll have to see what I can think of! I suppose even if I could cut my hours slightly that would take some of the weight off x
Oh I feel exactly the same And I’m currently off work due to stress from work I also had episode of panic attacks and fainting As my work have been so stressful they expected me to come back as I have never left in addition to missing my daughter… It has been theee months for me too and I can’t and don’t want to get used to it I would like to be a stay at home mum too but we I can’t even get any benefits due to my husband working and I have savings It’s feels so unfair that I have paid taxes for 17 years and now I need a he time off I can’t have it
I'm due back to work in June when my baby will be just over 1 (she's my 3rd). I'm going back for 30 hours a week (4 days) and hoping this extra day off in the week will make me feel like I have more of a work/life balance! I've been doing KIT days which has massively helped, but I'm still anxious about getting back into the swing of things again. I do enjoy my job though as I've been there for over 5 years, so I definitely don't want to give it up! I was a SAHM for 4-5 years in the past and honestly, it's not as great as people think it is. I was lonely and bored, the same routine everyday was just draining, I missed adult interactions so bad x
@Louma oh bless you, I really feel for you☹️ I’m the same, a lot of my friends are able to claim benefits as they rent but we own our house so I’d be entitled to nothing really. It’s so unfair when you see others doing it! I’m in a similar situ with work, I’ve been put straight into new training with my team and I’m just so overwhelmed I’m not sure what the doctor will suggest when I speak to her today. Thank you for sharing💖
@Rebecca yes I did some KIT days but unfortunately hated those too🤣 I have been at my job for 5 years in November but being honest I don’t enjoy it at all. I’ve always been really creative and I have ended up in an office job where I can’t use that at all really. Whereas being at home with my little one I could do crafts and fun stuff with her all the time! I suppose I’m a bit of an introvert too and my partner works from home everyday anyway so I’ve not ever missed the adult interaction. I hope it gets better though and I’m so glad it’s working for you! Thank you for sharing☺️x
I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way 💗💗 Have you considered being a VA? I set up my business and also offer coaching to support those wanting to set up their own VA business. I started in lockdown and was made redundant (didn’t get a redundancy package). It cost me around £50 to get set up (website and insurance) otherwise all the other tools are free. You can utilise your existing skillset and offer these to entrepreneurs and businesses on a self employed basis. You work your own hours, and the pay is great (around £25-35/hour). Would be happy to have a chat? X
I feel the same
