I usually get playdough or something she can play with or have her go in the playroom and read while I rock baby
Ms. Rachel at first but now that my oldest is almost 4 she’ll come in the room and I read a story to both. At first it was just teaching my oldest how to have quiet play time
I used to put my toddler up in his high chair strapped in with Hey Bear or Ms Rachel on the TV while I go put the baby down. Otherwise just make sure he’s gated into a safe space while I would go put her down.
Tire them out then feed them a bottle, burp, and put down in the bed with a monitor on. Can the toddler be put in a play room or area that is gated off/a play pen with some toys and the tv while you deal with the younger one?
All really helpful tips! Thank you!
My first was 2.5 when my second was born and honestly the first few months when I was on my own with both, naps were on the go as my second is not easy to get down for naps and I couldn’t leave my toddler unattended for long enough to get her down. I would time car trips or walks for nap times. A few months in I found I was able to set my toddler up with an activity and explain to him that I needed to put his sister down to nap but if he was patient we could have some alone time whilst she was sleeping. He was very good - but by this point he was closer to 3, and honestly I think those few months made a lot of difference! It’s tough though!!
I was a ece teacher and I just got our 14 mo a baby doll with a toy crib so he can learn to help put baby for a nap instead of creating chaos while I try to. (Due in 4 mo)
I’ve got a 4 month old who naps 3-4 times a day and twin 22 month olds so I rock the baby to sleep already in her swaddle while out with the twins playing and then go lay the baby down in her dark room while the twins are still playing with their toys. That way I don’t have to leave them unsupervised for long.
@Mary ooo this is smart!
I said "say a prayer" but I ment get the toddler to help if you can. Can you use Mrs.rachel and monitor via camera ?
