Tens machine experience

Do they actually help? Medications make me feel really sick and I’ve had a bad experience with gas and air and it’s makes me feel sea sick. I also don’t want the injection. So my only options left are epidural or tens

Omg yes!!! I did paracetamol and tens machine then eventually epidural. Contractions started at 1am, water broke at 9am, used tens until around 6pm - was around 8cm and then asked for the epidural and then started pushing at 8pm and she was here at 9pm, would defos recommend!

I used it till I was 8cm dilated and it really really worked!

I was induced and used it when I was getting contractions during induction it really helped. I didn’t use it during labour as I asked for an epidural. It did certainly help when I did use it.

I did and I suffer with fibromyalgia. I was worried that I wouldn’t cope with my back and hips. The tens machine was a game changer as I wasn’t in that much pain considering I was in labour for 2 days,

Epidural interferes with your hormones and with the bond etc. It crosses the blood brain barrier and goes to baby also. Id thoroughly research it if your thinking about having it as it can cause alot of issues also. Ive not used a tens in labour but found being in warm water amazing. My first baby was 32hr labour she was posterior from when labour began and i have a spinal injury. I ended up with a csection due to my labour being mismanaged etc and baby being stuck. But the water was amazing. Im wanting to try a tens machine with this next birth

I was super skeptical about it, but honestly it was absolutely brilliant! I ended up with an epidural and emergency c section but I laboured for a long time with just the TENS machine!

It's worked so well for me too, it was pretty much my best friend through contractions!!!

I loved mine! It was perfect, the midwives let me keep it on throughout my whole labour too, so just had the TENS machine and gas and air. Got to the hospital and was 5cm dilated at 4pm and he arrived at 6:57pm 🥹☺️

Not experienced it in labour yet but I use mine for endometriosis cramps and it definitely helped me

I can’t use one due to a heart condition, but my friend swears by it. Gas and air makes me sick, and epidurals and spinal block won’t work for me. I can have diamorphine, and that’s all. Ah well. 🙃

I used it for my first birth and it really helped with the early phases of labour, I then used gas and air (which did nothing for me) and then an epidural. I will be using a tens machine again for the early labour for my second.

I have used tens for when I suffer with sciatic pain (pre pregnancy) and I plan to use it during my labour ☺️
