Not crawling!?

My son is 10 months old and is not crawling yet. Are there some things I can do to get him to crawl? He scoots hisself on the floor but doesn’t crawl and people are making it seem like he should have already been crawling.

I think 6-10 months is the typical but some babies (like 1/4) crawl after 10 months. This blog has some suggestions https://huckleberrycare.com/blog/when-your-baby-starts-crawling/

Mine isn’t crawling either. And maybe I’m just very laxed since it’s my third baby but I’m not really concerned about it at all. Some babies never crawl and skip to doing everything else. It’s not even recognized as a milestone anymore. I’d only be concerned if mine (or yours) wasn’t actively trying to get around, which they’re are. By scooting, or in my case, army crawling everywhere lol.

Floor time as much as possible. No seats and containers. Feet out, no footies.

@MJ_xo yeah he scoots his self around or he rolls around to get where he’s trying to go

I watched this documentary series on Netflix called Babies, the episode was on crawling. The researcher said scooting and crawling were almost the same thing and that it’s the bridge that will lead them to start standing. My baby just turned 10 months and just started crawling like yesterday but before he only scooted. He’s been able to pull himself up to stand and even shift left/right & vice versa before he started crawling. Every baby is different. What I did with my baby is put him in crawling position, and rock him back and fourth so he can learn the movement but I really just let him free play in his big play pen area with toys and he just kinda grew into it. Nothing is wrong with your baby & ignore the outside noise. He’s doing great and if you feel like something is up then ask his pediatrician or find credible sources on the matter. You know what’s best mama!

Oh & make sure he doesn’t have socks & shoes on because babies learn a lot with their feet too. It helps them w/ grip and other stuff.

My June girl walked before she crawled I think it's preference

Plenty of tummy time. And toys such as the crab, the monkey that spins along on wheels, and the turtle. It really helped to have my son want to get something. I tried to play into his curious nature. I can send pics of these toys later if you don’t know what they are.

You can do tummy time with things he like to play with just put his reach. Honestly my baby started doing it because she wanted to see where our pets where going lol

He might skip crawling entirely and go straight to walking. Is he pulling himself up on stuff? Or trying to? Xx

My nephew was like this and then bam! Skipped crawling all together and just before his first birthday took his first steps. Babies seem to do everything at their own pace at this stage

I’m in the same boat. My daughter just turned 10mo and the pediatrician is really pushing me to get early intervention since she’s not trying to pull up yet. She’s rolling and sitting very confidently so my gut says I’m not going to worry about it. I think as long as there aren’t concerns from your doc about low muscle tone, he’s probably fine. Every baby goes at their own pace!
