@Rose are you using sterile water?
My boy had it and we just used cooled boiled water on it. It's just cleared up at 3 weeks.
@Sisi I’m using boiled water but if I cant get it then I use warm tap water. Oh a teabag is meant to help aswell obviously not a boiling hot one but I think if I remember I wiped it across there eyes not sure if it helped or not but I tried it x
Cooled boiled water and cotton balls. We also contacted our GP and they prescribed some eyedrops which seem to be helping 🙏🏻
Cooled boiled water and cotton pad, wipe and throw. Drops of breastmilk. If redness in the eyes then the GP can prescribe antibiotic and that helped clear up in 3-4days (had similar)
I just used boiled water and a cotton pad a kept cleaning after a feed so you’re limiting the amount of time yours touching it. My little girl eye cleared up in just over 24 hours and haven’t had a problem since xx
Looks just like my sons and it was conjunctivitis, he’s had drops for it and it’s mostly cleared now. If it is that, breast milk won’t help. (I tried too) xx
Keep going with the boiled water and breast milk, it will eventually clear. My babies cleared after a couple of weeks x
Cotton ball with breast milk :)
@Alicia @Zara did you drench the cotton ball in breast milk or apply the breast milk first and then wipe with a dry cotton ball?
@Sisi I used boiled water and cotton wool pad to wipe all the gunk away, and then I used a sterile syringe with my breast milk in and I just dropped it onto her eyes and the cleared up soooo quick. Be careful with cotton wool balls as some of the fluff can come off. If you don’t have a syringe you can drop milk in directly from your breast xxx
This was my babies eye! Her eyeball isn’t red so unlikely conjunctivitis
I think you should go to the doctor. This is quite the infection… keep cleaning it with cooled boiled water but please take her to the doctor. Conjuntivitis doesn’t have be red.
It’s blocked tear ducts massage the insides of her eyes they’ll clear up by it self just keep cleaning it if it’s conjuctvitis it’ll spread to other most likely yours aswell just get them seen too x

My baby has had this for the last 5 weeks. I've been cleaning it too but it still gunky everytime he sleeps and cries. Bottom of his eyes are puffy probably from all the cleaning. There's no redness or signs of infection. Does anyone know how long it takes to clear up? Should I go to the doctors about it?
@Ash it can be an ongoing thing until their tear ducts develop. My friends baby had it for a year. You can go to docs to be safe but milk and water will eventually sort them out xxx
@Zara thank you! I'll give the breast milk a go and speak to doctors are our 6 week appointment xx
@Ash my boys went pretty quickly but they had both sorts my niece had the same and took over a year to clear so it depends on the child x
My 3weeks old had it last week. I started cleaning with physiological serum and a cotton. Then I’ve got advised by the maternity assessment to clean it with breast milk. I also called the GP for consultation because I panicked and they gave her antibiotic eye drops. After one drop it was much better.
I have used camomile tea and it was gone next day for my week old baby girl
The breast milk doesn’t work? Otherwise warm cotton.
But better to go to the doctor as can be the lacrymal canal blocked also.
You just need to keep warm water and a cotton ball if it doesn’t clear and gets worse go to doctors they’ll give drops x they wouldn’t give me anything when my boys got it just told me to keep cleaning it x
