Potty training at 8 months? Wow hadn't thought of it yet! NHS suggests 18 months
@Jenna (Jen) a few people have mentioned that health visitors say to start introducing the potty informally at the 10/12 month visit! I was shocked too
Yes, I started putting my little boy on the potty just before he turned 8 months, about 3 weeks ago. I know he always has a poo about 5 minutes after waking up, so I started putting him on then and he started using it straight away. He's now 8.5 months and has only pooed in his nappy once since (when I didn't get him to his potty in time) and waits until he's on his potty to do one 🙂.
Maybe a stupid question but what is elimination communication?
I've started introducing the idea of the potty to my daughter; not adding any pressure, just praising her for sitting on it without a nappy on and she's doing good with that. I'm only doing this a couple of times a day but I figured since she's sitting sturdy and she's standing up, why not start getting her used to the concept? She's not done anything in it yet, but I might just do a little wee in there myself in front of her so she understands haha 🤙
