intense lower back aches/pains

hi guys , Just wondering if anyone has had similar experience and if so what I can do to help with the pain . I am currently 40 weeks pregnant and since last week I’ve had awful pain in my right side back/bum cheek which goes down the leg and i believe it may be sciatica . I tried to push through pain by keeping active but I’m currently now at the point where I’m not mobile I can’t walk down the stairs without support from my partner , can’t get up and out of bed without help I’m pretty much useless and it’s affecting me mentally now as I can’t do much . I’ve tried everything to cure the pain but it’s now turned into lower back ache too so I’m in pain 24/7 . Anything I can do to help ? I hate not being able to look after myself . X

I had this at 34 weeks it started down right side made its way across my lower back and then into my left side. It moves across cause the way you are carrying yourself and moving too prevent the pain. The pains lessened after about 10 days. Just keep alternating between hot and cold compressions. Midwife told me too go doctors and get codine but I didn't. X

Thanks Julia , I’ve been taking some paracetamol and I make an effort to get up and attempted to walk a round the house/garden so I don’t get stuck in a position. It’s just really taking over as I like to be able to go out and do my food shop and keep busy but I physically cannot at this moment as it hurts too much X

Is this something that will relieve itself after baby is here ?

I was told its where baby is laying on a nerve or already disturbed a nerve. This made sense in my way case as she's always laying in my right side. I found I was better at night that I had done some walking throughout the days. I couldn't get comfortable sitting or laying x

I’ve been like this since 30 weeks, 37 weeks at the moment and midwife just keeps saying it’s because of how far down baby is! The only thing that helps is a hot bath, your not supposed to have it above 38 degrees but my midwife said 38-42 is okay as long as your not sat in it at more than 38 degrees for longer than 40 minutes! xx

I suffered with sciatica before being pregnant, I've found having a bath can help relieve the pain, or hot water bottle on your buttock, being pregnant you're limited to what you can use on it, I swear by deep heat but can't use in pregnancy so hence I use a hot water bottle, can your partner gently massage it for you to help x
