Anti depressants

Does anyone have experience with needing to start antidepressants to help postpartum anxiety/depression? I’ve tried to avoid it but my anxiety is now out of control. My baby is only 6 weeks old. I’m not breastfeeding. I guess I’m just looking for support or words of encouragement that everything will be ok.

I was thinking about pills a couple of times, but I overcame it. Many moms feel depressed but they do have husband or family to help. I'm alone, no man, no family, and I still decided to skip the pills. I'm still crying sometimes, doubt myself that I can give my LO good development, education, future , etc. But I'm trying to think positive.

If you're not breastfeeding, try taking ashwagandha. It helps with anxiety and depression and it's a herbal remedy. You should look into it.

I have been on antidepressants for about 3 ish years now. Its safe to take while pregnant and breastfeeding. My baby is always smiling and happy and he is hitting all of his milestones developmentally. I was nervous at first to be taking medication while pregnant but I looked at it as trying to get back to the best version of myself to be the best mom I can to my baby. It has since helped and I'm the happiest I've been in years :)

At this stage, your hormones are going absolutely wild so this is why it’s so common to feel such anxiety- let alone you’re a first time mum too! Definitely visit your Dr and have a chat. Things do calm but not for everyone. And antidepressants like sertraline or citalopram work wonders for many - they just calm the storm whilst you’re figuring things all out x

I used them for ptsd and anxiety after coming out of a DV relationship, I couldn’t walk across the kitchen with a cup of tea without half of it on the floor I shook so badly, sertraline helped me SO much! Really took that edge off and took away the physical symptoms of it too. Going on them doesn’t mean forever they are just a tool to help while you get yourself sorted 🩷

Zoloft has been amazing for me and I’ve not experienced any negative side effects! I’ve been on it for 3 years now
