Promethazine

I’ve been suffering really bad with all day vomiting and sickness to where I was in hospital for IVS last week. My GP has changed me from cyclizine to promethazine. I’m positive on the phone she said I was able to take a tablet 6-8 hours apart when required. Please can I double check with someone who is prescribed Promethazine how many mg you’re on and how often do you take it? She’s prescribed me 10mg but the instructions on the box say take one morning and night. Thank you❤️

I have promethazine too but for use as an antihistamine as opposed to antisickness, but it’s stopped the nausea too so win win 🤣 I have 10mg too and was just told take it twice a day, no set amount of time between them 🤷‍♀️ I usually take it about 9am and then again at 6pm xx

@Jess that’s such good news that it’s also stopped your nausea! Eee I’m praying it stops mine too!! Thank you I’ll try doing twice a day then if it’s not working I’ll ring and double check if I can increase 🤞🏽xxxx

@Giulia thank you!! She gave me 10mg but I swear she said I could take up to 3 a day. I’ll start with two and pray that works 😂 have you found them to be good? Xx

@Rebecca they did in my first pregnancy but I’m finding it not as effective the second time around 🫠 currently on day 2 of testing it out so there’s still hope, I’ll have to report back 😆 See how you get on with the current dose and just let your gp know if it’s not enough, they have plenty of other options to offer (I tried 3 different meds in my first pregnancy before finding what worked!)

@Giulia awww I hope it kicks in soon for you🤞🏽🤞🏽!!! No one tells you about this part of pregnancy 🤣 !! Xxx

Im on the 25mg ones as pictured above, max dosage for these is 4 but I take one in the morning and one before my tea 🙂

@Faye has it helped you? I’ve started today feel worse than before but hoping it’s just until it kicks in 😂🤢 just feels never ending xxx

Sorry I thought these were the same as what you had been prescribed 🤦🏻‍♀️

@Fiona no it’s okay thank you! A few of my friends have had that and said the same they had continuous nausea! Hope yours settled soon too xxxx

@Rebecca it’s helped me loads the nausea is still there but I was being sick about 10 times a day 🙃 it makes me really tired though but that’s probably cause it’s a sedative my doctor did say it took 48 hours for them to kick in I remember

@Giulia are you taking it for morning sickness? I’ve been prescribed one 25mg in the evening but in the morning I’m desperate. Really think I need it twice a day x

@Farah I was originally told to only to take one and starting taking two without asking my doctor, I just informed them I’d started taking two when I asked for a repeat prescription 🙂
