😔 Swollen armpit with no symptoms or pain - can you help me understand please? Just a bit worried 😔

Hi gals, ftm here, i noticed today my left armpit is swollen quite a bit and is noticeable. I noticed it only via the mirror and there was no symptoms or pain. Was advised by midwife to go to a&e so i did. The doctor said it could be viral infection that your body is fighting. Because there are no symptoms don’t worry but if you do get symptoms then call gp and see them. He gave me antibiotics to keep incase i get feverish or nausea basically show symptoms. I’m confused tbh. He didn’t do blood tests or any kind of tests or scans. I will contact GP tomorrow and get second opinion. Could you tell me your experience if you had one - should i be worried?

I’ve had swollen pits with both pregnancies! Like pea sized sore lumps that last a few days till another one pops up. They vanished after birth both times xx

@Sarah that’s good to hear they went away after giving birth. Mines are slightly bigger and puffy. Hopefully it goes down soon. Will do some tests if i can to rule out infection.

I was told it’s to do with your lymph nodes in your pits and your hormones going wild. I use cream deodorant too and that can block pores, add it all together and it’s a perfect painful storm. Definitely get seen to clear your mind and hopefully it vanishes when your hormones reset.

I have the same issue. Had ir before pregnancy and now during third trimester is a bit more painful and swollen. I am going to the breast doctor next week hopefully nothing but I understand this is scary and in my family we have history of breast cancer so a bit overwhelming — i think though it is pretty common and you should not be worried just check w the doctors again and get tested if that’ll help you feeling less anxious

Thanks a lot ladies. I saw my GP doctor today, she was very thorough with the examination and was very helpful. Reassured me that she doesn’t see anything alarming. To be sure she gave me the forms for full blood count tests so will do that also next week to have peace of mind.
