Newborn Hearing Screening

My LO failed his hearing screening and the follow up at the hospital. We have a follow up with an audiologist in 2 weeks. Did this happen to anyone else? He was born at 37 weeks (got stuck in my pelvis for a few hours so we went to C-section), so I’m aware it could be fluid - but they also tell me “it should have cleared by now”.

This hasn’t happened to me but it happened to my friend and it turns out her son was totally fine! Sorry I don’t have any details but hope it gives you a little positivity ☺️

Yes me! I knew she could hear as I dropped something and she jumped 😂 The further test came back fine just slightly lower in one ear due to fluid but she could still hear absolutely fine. PDue to re test when she’s nearly 1 X

This happened to us, except my son was born at 33 weeks and it turned out his ear canals were closed (called aural atresia). He has hearing aids and hears fine with them! He's not considered deaf just profoundly hard of hearing. If this happens to you, feel free to reach out to me. I know how overwhelming all this can be! Goodluck!

This happened to us too. Went to another hospital and it was all clear! They said it ‘failed’ because of the background noise. All will be fine don’t worry x

My son failed his hearing test after birth as well. 17 years later and he’s just fine 🥰 stay positive

Mine failed as well and the passed. One thing we learned: they have to be sleeping when they get the exam, with no noise outside and not moving. Good luck!
