Acid reflux issues

Hi there! I find I’m hungry but can’t eat after 6pm or I have acid reflux (almost every time). If you have had this problem, what do you do? It will keep me awake at night and I hate it.

I have a hiatal hernia so it can lead to some fierce heart burn and acid reflux. Bread is great at absorbing excess acid. Saltine crackers can help too. Tums and other antacids are a godsend. Laying on my left side can help reduce the amount of reflux when trying to sleep and if it's bad enough, I'll sleep with my upper body propped up - that's how I survived the last month of my pregnancy. My dad swears by sleeping with the head of his bed elevated slightly compared to the foot of his bed to reduce reflux when sleeping. Small, frequent meals can help too, instead of 3 big meals.

Have u tried pepcide? I agree with laying on ur left side or not laying down completely flat. Either sleep with ur head elevated to prevent it from ur reflux coming up.

I was prescribed a medication for that acid reflux and heartburn, cause laying on my left side didn't help as much, with the further along i got i was starting to wake up in rows in the middle of the night, with heartburn and burping that up... let them know when I started to have frequent check up closer to the due date, and bringing that up a lot, they eventually got the prescription done for it, since it was on my file... i did try apple cider vinegar, but that didn't really work for me

Baking soda dissolved in water helps so Much, doesn’t taste like anything and doesn’t contain calcium like tums. If your on thyroid or Other meds that need good absorption tums can hinder their effectiveness. Baking soda also doesn’t have any extra stuff in it and works almost immediately at neutralizing the acid. I wouldn’t take anything antacid within 4 hours of a prenatal though. The prenatal won’t be as effective/well absorbed. The pancreas naturally creates baking soda aka sodium bicarb for us to protect our intestines from acids in our digestive enzymes.

I have terrible reflux now that I’m in my third trimester. No oranges or tomatoes after 12 pm, to dark teas or coffee, no vinaigrettes or chili or heavy garlic. I switched to kiwis for vitamin c, do green tea or raspberry leaf tea and do garlic powder instead of fresh in recipes. Bananas and magnesium supplements also help a lot. Greener bananas also have a lot of fiber and help w constipation.

I started taking Arrae heartburn vitamins, works like magic lol
