Foot and leg spasms

I’m 24 weeks and last night I woke up and my foot had completely gone into spasms it was the worst cramp I’ve ever had it was so painful only last about 30 seconds but my god I don’t want it happening again, I found out last week I have a vitamin D & B12 deficiency so not sure if that is causing it, I’ve also had sciatica from 6 weeks, this is my second pregnancy after an emergency C-section with my first, I wondered has anyone else had this and what helped? Thanks

I’ve had this and it’s horrendous. Was literally hopping around the room crying and my partner nearly took me to A&E then it just stopped but has happened four or five times since. My doctor said it’s quite common and that drinking tonic water (for the quinine) or putting Epsom salts in baths might help. Good luck.

I haven't had spasms so much but restless painful legs and I ended up in the bath at 1.30Am the other day after trying and failing to sleep for 4 hours before. Epsom salts and drink tonic water with quinine (might be worth a shot) x

Ive had a few too. So unpleasant. Im trying to up my salt intake and have an electrolyte daily. Tonic water or magnesium can also help

Yes I had this a lot with my first. And had my first one with this baby the other night. I found rubbing/massaging my lower legs before bed helped with it and at least reduced how painful the cramps were if not stopped them.

I have them too and they’re the most painful ever… what helps me is standing on that leg as it happens. If I don’t do it, my leg will hurt for an entire week if not longer

Yes, this is quite common, I quickly put my foot on the floor. Stepping with the whole surface of it, this helps the spasms and cramp go away, with a little massage.

I got leg cramps with my first and with this one. I find it kind of relates to when I’ve been on my feet all day. Try doing some leg stretches before you go to bed. But yes it’s bloody painful and it sucks!!!

I’ve been struggling with lower leg cramps during the night, I’ve found doing a massage gun before bed has helped and reduced them xx

I woke up for the first time around 4am with an excruciating cramp. I nearly screamed it was so bad! Went away after a few minutes with gentle massaging but I’ve bought some magnesium spray for using moving forward. It’s supposed to help
