Clogged ducts

I'm three weeks postpartum pumping and bottle feeding.. I have had a painful lump in my right breast. I tried breast massage, and it actually got worse... getting really painful really fast.. warm showers haven't helped either Any suggestions on how to treat it at home?

I'd try and hand express as much as you can to relieve the lump but not empty the breast. Cabbage leaves in the bra (maybe this is an Irish thing) and I find the lanisoh warm breast compress to be very good. You might just have to try and clear the duct xx

My midwife recommended ice packs for between feeds to relieve any pain and warm compress before feeding the baby to loosen it up. Offer the breast with the lump first as baby sucks the hardest in the first few minutes. And this is unconventional but please believe me that I has worked for me. Using gravity to relieve the duct.. so essentially, you let your breast dangle and place baby below you to feed. Yes, it makes you feel like a cow. But it has really helped me everytime!
