Potty training

We went straight to underwear. But we were at home 10 days. We just did tiny trips to supermarket etc once he’d been to the loo. But it was over Christmas and wasn’t really anywhere we were bothered about going!

@Cal I’m thinking of doing it over the Easter weekend as we will be at home 4 days then she will be her grandparents for the two days after that then nursery! So potentially 6 days in knickers before nursery, hopefully that’ll be enough time🙏🏻

When we potty trained we did a few days without anything on and then introduced just trousers again, no underwear. We did that for about 5 weeks until we were confident he knew to use the potty. Then introduced underwear in case he associated underwear with nappy.

We are doing commando and if needed (daycare) boxers. Boxers are loose around the leg so they don't feel like diapers. We did 1 day naked, day 2 he had a tantrum and put pants on by himself. We just finished week 2 and he's maybe an accident every other day, usually when he's really distracted

We did pants and chose a time where we could have a few days at home, it did take a couple of days to get used to potty training then occasional accidents so just needed to be on it offering the potty/toilet when out and about to keep it going 😅

We started properly yesterday after a couple of months of him using the potty sporadically. I just woke him up, put him on the potty and put him in pants. We went out food shopping and he stayed dry, then went the park for 2.5 hours in the afternoon with a travel potty and he told me twice when he wanted to go for a wee (had one little accident as well) and today we’ve been out all morning and he’s stayed dry and told me when he wanted wee and haven’t had any accidents today! He’s been an absolute star and took to it even better than I anticipated! I know a lot of people stay home for days but I just want to keep routine as normal as possible and get him used to letting me know when he needs to go regardless of where we are. Whatever you do, just be patient, expect accidents and stay consistent. She’ll get it whether it takes a few days or a couple of weeks! Good luck! Xx

We went straight to underwear 2 weeks ago… it’s very hit or miss 🫠 I’m putting a pull up on her when we go out but she is asking to go to the toilet even with it on so I think we’re finally making progress. She is doing big wees in the toilet but still doing lots of wee dribble accidents, think her bladder control just isn’t fully there yet but we’ll get there… eventually 🫠

I waited about 5 weeks to put knickers on her, so she just went out in leggings. She was pretty much potty trained in 2 weeks (I.e very few accidents) following the oh crap potty training method. She’s still in bedtjme nappies mind, but even now she tells me she wants a wee first thing in the morning and we have our wees together 😭 personally I would hold off on the underwear as it can feel similar to a nappy, muscle memory takes over apparently and they just tend to pee in them, in the early days of PT x

@Chloe we’re only on day 3 and he only had one accident yesterday and not had a single one today! Been out to the shops and round grandads and every single time he’s needed the toilet he’s told me. We’ve been doing pants and it seems to have worked really well, still obviously using nappies for naps and night time but he doesn’t seem to confuse pants for nappies at all luckily! He’s at nursery all day tomorrow so be interesting to see how he does with the distractions etc, I’m sure there will be more accidents than he’s had so far 😅 x

We went straight to underwear. I found it actually helped as I got him his favourite character underwear and he was excited to wear it and not get the character wet xxx
