It can feel like period cramps or like a tummy bug or like constipation or like a lower back ache or confusion like unable to know what's going on no concept of time. For me it was all of these at least once just depends on which birth and how far into labor whatever you get lean Into it you can't fight it just let it take you let your body lead you
I had a show first the day before. Then light cramping all day. And back ache. Then that night it ramped up while I slept, ended up having my baby within two hours of arriving at the hospital. Listen to your body. And call the hospital if need be, they’ll have you in and can assess you if you ask ☺️

100% period cramps that keep getting worse along with a basket-tight belly
I had tightening pains / round ligament pains across my bump for a while and got confused what I was supposed to be looking out for - in my experience the ‘real’ contractions were much lower / like period pains rather than round the bump
For me I felt tightening in my stomach that wrapped around the lower half of my bump. I couldn't sit, or lay down comfortably. I had to constantly get up, I was frequently using the bathroom and only going a little bit at a time. Also, I was shaking.
