Hey Charlotte, I also have a suspected bicornuate uterus and was told at an nhs scan in 2023 and nothing else was really done about it then I’ve been put on consultant led care this time around but I had a private scan and I think you can see it on there! Definitely get a second opinion if you’re not sure but I don’t think it’s an issue until the end of the pregnancy x
I’ve got a bicornuate uterus that’s almost septate, I’ve got two boys, birthed one vaginally and my second was a planned section for various reasons! Some professionals will see you as high risk and others won’t I think it depends on who you see, I wasn’t consultant led with my first but the midwife I had for my second baby insisted that I must be due to my uterus shape. I’ve been told that it can lead to more early miscarriages due to the egg implanting ‘too high up your horn’ and not having sufficient room but I don’t know how true that is cause other healthcare professionals have said that’s not the case so who knows 😅 I’m pregnant with baby number 3 and all of my pregnancies have been in my left horn xx
Thank you that's really helpful! I'm going to ask them to check again at the 12 week scan but I'm worried they'll try to classify me as high risk because I'm having a home birth no matter what 🤣 thanks all x
Hi Charlotte! I have a bicornuate uterus, it generally doesn’t prevent things like conception etc, it’s normally keeping a baby to full term, later miscarriage etc. I would get a second opinion if I was you! There’s many forms of abnormalities of the uterus so it may be a case it’s not bicornuate, it could be a septum or arcutate. But I would definitely get a second opinion. On average it takes a couple 1 year to get pregnant so you’ve gotten pregnant within good time. I also have PCOS so I needed ovulation induction treatment and now I’m 9 weeks pregnant. Hope this helps. Xx
