The Beatrix potter collection
There is a range of books written by Camilla Reid and illustrated by Nila Aye that are super cute for young babies, the names are like Who’s happy? Who’s sleepy? Who’s funny? I love Nila Aye’s illustrations, we also have a book called Nature Trail that she illustrated. Another favourite from about 6 months to currently (2 years) is 1-2-3 A Walk in the Countryside, which is a really simple book with just counting (she’s obsessed with counting). The Rod Campbell books are good too, as are Laura Hughes lift the flap books (We’re going on a Egg hunt, Elf Chase etc ), and the Usborne “that’s not my ____” series Now she’s a little older, she loves all the Julia Donaldson/Axel Scheffler books (the gruffalo, room on the broom, monkey puzzle, acorn wood books), The tiger who came to tea, and we’re just starting into some books from the Little People, Big Dreams series.
Oh also my daughter LOVES going to the library! If you have one local, get a library card!! She picks out new books, uses the self service machines by herself (mostly 😂), and they aren’t bothered if your child damages a book x
My lg got gifted ‘Each Peach Pear Plum’, the reason for the gift was because the lady read it to her boys every night 20 odd years ago, my lg now 7, still loves this book xx
If you’re having a baby shower or even if you just have people wanting to gift you things, ask for a book instead of a card! They can write a message in the book and then it’s a keepsake and you have a massive selection of books!
I love the acorn wood series by Julia Donaldson. My 5 month old loves looking at the pictures, when we do tummy time I stand them up open and it keeps her quite entertained xxx
Alan and Janet Alberg books are lovely too and remind me of my childhood xx
Dear zoo, hungry caterpillar, sometimes babies, 10 little finger and 10 little toes. My son loved the lift the flap books ‘where Mr Dog’ and various other animals!
