Just been to the doctor's today about the same thing, my 5 week old girl has a granuloma, and the doctor gave us a steroid cream that has a small amount of antibiotic in it, this is because prior to the bleeding we had a bit of yellow pus, so she's treating it as an infection. She did say though that in most cases they heal by themselves, just keep it clean and dry
Try to keep it as dry as possible x
My baby had this too, his cord fell off earlier than usual and so was bleeding and had a pink ball type of thing in his belly button for quite a while, the midwife said it would heal on its own, and by the time I had my 8 week postpartum and baby review, the doctor recommended using salt water solution and it healed it within a couple days!
Use salt twice a day. Really effective
They do tend to bleed more on some days and they do tend to bleed a little for a while afterwards. It's like taking a big scab off on your own skin. I had blood on my babies vests for ages after hers fell off. Vest is fine I was told just fold the nappy down which you have been doing.
My advice is to completely leave it alone.
Our little one had the same! Think it’s because his cord fell off slightly earlier than we expected and nappy’s were rubbing and irritating it. We left it alone… it dried out within a week and was fine within a week or two. I’d leave it alone and let it dry out and should be fine! If not ok in a week or so after leaving it to dry or gets worse than see doctor again xx
My family has a tradition to use basically what’s called a baby belly binder in English for newborns. It helps keep that lump thing tucked in and it also helps keep the blood from going all over the place. (You can take blood stains out with hydrogen peroxide). From a quick Google search, it looks like Target sells ones that are similar to what we use… we don’t tie any knots, just wrap and tuck the string part
This happened with my daughter too and we made sure we kept folding the diaper down and wiping around the belly button to keep it clean. Our dr also told us we could use something to cover it like a bandaid if it got stuck to clothes
I went to do walk in about a similar thing as my girl had a granuloma which the doctors give us cream for and said if it doesn’t heal naturally they’ll have to chemically burn it to go back inside, my baby’s wasn’t bleeding but the fleshy part was there. If it’s bleeding I would definitely say book an appointment with your GP x
Our LG had the same, we just kept cleaning the area and it eventually healed. Doctor wasn’t concerned when we had it checked out, all part of the healing process, some taking longer than others. But just keep an eye on it x
