i’ve been giving my son these beachnit fiber and protien pouches and that has helped him poop mades it really soft,, is his poop like really hard like pebbles? or does he just not like pooping? i had a kid once who really hated pooping and she would cry and cry but we weren’t allowed to change diapers so we would wiggle it out which was so weird to me,, anyways are you able to tell when he’s about to go poop? i started sitting my son on the potty when he poops
@Liv why are people against miralax?
- Puréed prunes - Puréed pears - Puréed apples Which all taste delicious! Tummy massages. Plus plenty of fibre & fluids, doesn’t have to be water, can be orange squash, ice lollies 🫶🏻
How is your child pooping? My child just had an appointment with the gastro today about an episode of constipation, and I learned a lot of improving how to help her go better
Blueberries and spinach make my baby poop and she used to have really bad constipation issues too.
@Roz it’s not safe for kids. It even says it on the bottle. MIRALAX SIDE EFFECTS reported to the FDA and/or miralax@yahoogroups.com by parents of children who were given Miralax (limited list-more side effects reported since compiled) (Pt.1)

@Roz I would definitely look into it! It’s scary and not healthy or safe💔
When my little was struggling our nurse practitioner suggested pedialax suppositories as needed. I only ever used it if her stools were hard and not coming out. Always worked within 5-15 minutes. Otherwise I gave Wellements constipation support every day and that seemed to help. But it took a week or two to get regular. We tried cranberry juice randomly and that actually seemed to help better than the prune juice.
@Angie he starts tooting a lot right before and it’s more solid/long in appearance 🙃
@Sookie he use to poop very soft everyday but now it’s a solid/long piece (TMI) in appearance sometimes every 1-2 days 🥲 he has his 12 month pedi checkup on the 22nd but I feel so bad that he’s screaming every time he needs to go
I find my babies bouncer helps because of the way their legs are kind of like a squatty potty
@Amanda blueberries make my 2 year old poop too!! Idk why I didn’t think about giving this a shot! Anyway you give them to her? He’s still learning how to be comfortable with swallowing!

my 3 year old does this and we just started him on vitamins with fiber last week and he took one chewable pedialax and we haven’t had any trouble since!
@Rebecca I will try the cranberry juice because prune, apple, and pear juice hasn’t been helping him out 😪
@Shante I’ve tried prune puree and prune juice, but it hasn’t helped with him! 😩 my mom also suggested that!! He has his 12 month check up next week so I’m definitely going to ask then and hopefully find something to give a little relief in the meantime!!
My daughter went through the same thing. Turns out, they can cry because they are unsure about the feeling of pooping and it’s uncomfortable. My daughter used to scream bloody murder and throw temper tantrums. It evened out about 6 weeks later. Some kids go through it, some kids don’t. We tried prune juice, apple juice, prune puree, bananas, and nothing worked. Every now and then I do make something we call a “poop bomb” 😂 it’s a Culturelle probiotic + fiber drink mix packet in her juice cup mixed with 3/4 sugar free prune juice and 1/4 water. Give that to her whenever we feel like she’s gonna get the grumpy poops and it works like a charm
Ii do the mommy bliss constipation ease
@Fabiann any major changes in diet? If you see him going have him squat if he can, if not lay him down and push his legs up so he's in a prone squat, and pushing against your hands. Dr told me one of the reasons she's having constipation is because she sitting on the big toilet without her feet dangling. She had me sit and try to push with my legs up, and it was crazy hard. So that's why she recommended a potty squatty for her.
@Jennifer I was actually looking into these so I’m happy to see it was recommended!
@Sookie once he starts going, I typically either hold him against me with his knees up tucked between us or I lay him down where ever and push his legs up! It definitely helps speed up the process!
I 10/10 recommend!! I had tried prunes, plums, juice, massages, EVERYTHING. & we had travelled and I asked my parents to pick some up & now it’s my go to whenever he is constipated.
Mommy’s bliss constipation ease liquid
And the dark karo corn syrup in bottle
We have always done warm baths, massage castor oil topically on the lower belly, bicycles and running legs and pull exercises
We used constipation ease from mommy’s bliss when our 14 month old got constipated a lot switching to whole milk. Can’t say whether or not it’d help for sure, but may be worth bringing up to your ped to see if they think it could help at all?
I just went through this. My poor baby was in so much pain when she would try to go. She would scream and cry. We cut back on the dairy. We give her a mix of ripple milk and whole milk, mommy bliss probiotic, prune purée. Cut back on all starches and upped the fiber so lentils, broccoli, berries, oats. If we give her pasta it’s chickpea pasta. Offer water throughout the day too.
