Baby belly button discharge

Our baby girls umbilical cord fell off when she was 2 weeks old and ever since she has had discharge from it on and off. When at the doctors 2 weeks ago she was prescribed an antibiotic cream as the discharge had become really smelly and we were told to keep it clean and apply the cream for a week. Last week, I felt it still wasnt 100% so I took her back to the doctor and the doctor felt the discharge was starting to dry up and that this was a sign of it healing. She took a swab from her belly button anyway to check for infection and it came back with no bacteria in it, and there is no foul smell from it anymore But our baby still has these crusty discharge marks occasionally on her vests? And her belly button can appear dry/sticky Does anyone elses baby have something similar? Worried this is not normal but the doctor was not concerned and her swab is normal

We had the same thing until like week 4 or 5. I just kept wiping it with a water wipe and occasionally dropped some breast milk on it. It’s healed perfectly now ☺️

@Jennifer I'm so relieved someone else has experienced the same thing. I'll start putting breastmilk on it a couple times a day, hopefully this helps it heal ☺️

My daughter is the same and is almost 8 weeks. Think it's slowly getting less and better now. Doctor just said keep an eye on it

My baby has the same and is 7 weeks xxx

I’m not sure if you do this already but maybe fold the top of the nappy down when you put it on so it isn’t rubbing on the belly button if that makes sense? My older daughter (she’s 2 now) had this and I found that helped
