Is it cheating to play a romantic interactive visual novel?

The ai poll got me thinking about this. A quick description: Theyre sometimes called dating sims or otome games. The player plays as either a character or themselves in a story accompanied by images or animations. There are multiple Actions and responses that arise throughout the story that the player must choose and different choices result in different endings.

Omg 😳

for me it depends on why they're playing it. Like if you're playing it for the interesting story, I don't mind. But if you're playing it because it excites you sexually or romantically then that's a no no in my book. I didn't care when my ex played Doki Doki Literature Club, but when I found him playing roleplaying games for his actual kinks that very much bothered me.

Omg I can't wait to hear people's opinions on this one, lol. For me, it totally depends on if the partner develops addictive tendencies towards these roles/characters/interactions... but I definitely view this as porn on crack, so... yeah, the likelihood of needing to chase that high seems super probable. But if it doesn't have any impact on the individual or the relationship (emotional/physical/sexual/etc), I'm cool with it.

To me those games just seem weird(no hate to anyone who plays them). If my partner were to start playing them I would have a serious talk to figure out their “why” like is there something missing in our relationship? As far as is it cheating would probably be a no as long as it isn’t with another real player

I don’t think itd bother me unless it took up all their free time. I’d hate to be jealous of a fictional character lol
