Screaming in car

My baby is 5.5 months and screams blood curdling cries most of our car rides, she began this at 2 months old. She doesn’t have any gastric reflux issues. She has no issue being in the car seat for stroller rides (same car seat attached to stroller). I have tons of toys for her to play with and mirror to look at. Has her pacifier. I play baby Mozart music she enjoys that typically calms her down but doesn’t work in the car. Do they age out of this constant screaming in the car or is there something else I can try?

I was in the same situation! It’s awful. I was having panic attacks and didn’t want to leave the house anymore. We were only going out for holidays and special events. I know it’s terrible but we had to get an iPad holder that hooked around the headrest and played a show while we had to drive anywhere. It helped so much. I will say she finally grew out of it and will be happy just riding with toys and music now. Phew. Hang in there 💕

The happy song by Imogen Heap works for us

@Kelley what age did she stop?

Honestly at about a year old! She’s 18 months now and it’s such a huge difference. I think once we were able to explain to her where we were going and now she enjoys looking out the window and is excited about visiting different places. I feel you pain, it was just awful. Can you have a friend or partner ride in the backseat with her? That also seemed to help some

My little one did this and I found she hated the car that was ‘low down’ i.e. It had high windows. If I put her in the other car which had bigger windows she was much better. And yes I religiously played ‘the happy song’ on repeat on every car journey too.
