Weaning and constipation / tummy pain

Started weaning 5 days ago (baby is 6 months tomorrow), only doing veggies to start, and the last couple of days he’s been really straining trying to poo and struggling with tummy pain and pooing is a lot less frequent. He hates being on his back in the daytime (he pushes his bottom up/arches back), just wants to sit up. Assuming this might be due to introduction of solids. He’s just woken up writhing and straining but no poo, poor thing. Anyone else having this? I don’t remember my first having it so bad this early on.

Make sure to offer a drink of water with meals when weaning

Yep he’s having water

Get some prunes and give him a couple of spoons every couple of days to keep him regular x

Try a fattier fruit like avocado ☺️

Windis are really helping us atm x

We are exactly the same and also didn’t have this problem with our first. Gave her a prune pouch and it worked so quickly! Other than giving water, I think it’s just a case of her tummy getting used to it 🫠

I’ve been mixing the Ella’s kitchen prune pouch into his breakfast and it’s been helping, also wearing him in the carrier, the position really helps to get them going! On the days he’s struggling, if I wear him in the carrier 99% of the time he’ll go within an hour of me wearing him.
